Youth Basketball
Preparation has begun for the 2010 Frontier Refining Youth Basketball Tournament. This is a popular tournament with teams from Colorado, Nebraska and Wyoming. Dates for the tournament are March 27-28 for boys grades 4th-9th, girls grades 5th-8th, entry fee is $150, deadline is March 12. Spaghetti Dinner and Benefit Auction
Friday, March 5, 5:00pm-?, The Buckle Club, above the Exhibit Hall on the Frontier Days Grounds, donation of $10 per plate. Proceeds go to Jhun and Merelyn Vinluan to cover medical expenses incurred from cancer surgery. Music by Blue Light Special , dinner prepared by Pizzeria Venti. High School A State Hockey Championships
March 5-7, Taco Johns Events Center. Games start at 6:00pm Friday, 9:00am and 4:00pm Saturday, High School Skills competition start at 11:15am Saturday, with the consolation and championship games at 8:30am Sunday. Free admission.

Love & Logic Parenting Seminar
Jedd Hafer, a gifted humorist and communicator with the Love and Logic Institute, is coming to Cheyenne Hills Church, Monday, March 15, 6:30pm-8:30pm, to give a seminar on parenting. Childcare is available, but only for those who purchase tickets in advance. Advance tickets are $25/couple and $15/single. The costs on the day of the event are $35/couple and $20/single. Poultry Class
The Laramie County Cooperative Extension Office and 4-H Poultry Superintendent LaDonna Foley will be hosting poultry care classes, Sunday, March 7, 2:00pm-4:00pm, Laramie County Library, Willow Room. This is the third of a series on poultry care programs. Class will cover different chicken breeds, chick care, feed choices and a fun game of chicken jeopardy for the kids. 27th Annual DKG Book Sale
The Delta Kappa Gamma Used Book Sale is this weekend in the former Western Auction building, 3411 East Pershing (behind Taco Johns on Ridge Road). Hours are 8:00am-8:00pm Saturday and 9:00am-4:00pm Sunday. Parking is available behind the building. All day Sunday, customers may purchase a box for $10 or a bag for $6 at the door and fill them to the brim. Unsold books will be donated to community organizations whose representatives are willing to come on Sunday at 4;00pm to select and pick up. Call 632-0209 for information.

Science Fair
Laramie County School District 1 will host its 36th Annual District Elementary Science Fair Saturday, March 13, Storey Gym. The annual event will begin with judging from 8:30am-1:00pm. Father/Son Duct Tape Duel
All elementary school age boys are invited to enjoy an evening of fun with their fathers, uncles or grandfathers at the Duct Tape Duel, March 13, 5:30pm-8:00pm, Wyoming Army National Guard Armory. Activities will include food, keepsake photos, a silent auction and a variety of materials and duct tape to create a duct tape wonder. Purchase of tickets prior to March 10 required, $15 per team, seating is limited, limited scholarships available. Dances of Universal Peace
A special evening of Dances of Universal Peace will be offered at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 3005 Thomes, Saturday, March 13, beginning with a social potluck at 6:00pm, followed by dancing from 7:00pm-9:00pm. Instructor Grace Marie will guide participants through sacred circle dances designed to bring people together in healing peace and unity. Many think of these dances as moving meditations. Live musical accompaniment supports the singing and movements. Everyone is welcome, participation not performance is the focus. Bring an open mind and friendly, embracing heart and join us! Laramie County Master Gardeners
Host the 2010 Wyoming State and Regional Master Gardener Conference at the Laramie County Community College, April 30 through May 2. Open to all gardeners and anyone interested in gardening on the high prairie. You need not be a Master Gardener to attend. Vendor exhibits and break-out sessions will be held each day. Catered meals, goodies bags and great door prizes will be given. Discounts will be given for early registration prior to March 15. 48th Annual Kurtz Andrews Scholarship Show opens March 17 at Artists Guild Gallery in Holliday Park with an awards reception Saturday, March 20. The scholarship is available for all Laramie County School District #1 high school seniors interested in pursuing education and training in 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional art. If so, Carpenter Elementary School will be hosting their Kindergarten Screening Wednesday, March 24. Cheyenne Genealogical & Historical Society
Exploring Historic Records in Your Own Backyard, a free, educational program, will be presented on Tuesday, March 9, Sunflower Room, Laramie County Library. Program will be presented by Eric Bittner, archivist with the National Archives and Records Administration, Rocky Mountain Region in Denver, will discuss the facilitys searchable federal records which include documents, photographs and maps related to homesteading, naturalizations, mining, Indian agencies, railroads, the home front during World War II, proceedings of territorial courts and others. Cheyenne Umpires Association
Umpires and scorekeepers needed. If you have an interest in umpiring or scorekeeping for the adult mens and womens softball leagues, the training meetings are starting. The meetings are every Tuesday evening at the Activity Center at the corner of Pershing and Carey, 6:00pm. Meetings entail in-depth training and refresher courses for umpires and scorekeepers.
